Why Christians don’t pray consistently – Part Two

Ministering Pastor Uche Aigbe
Scripture: Luke 18 :1 – Alpha Service message
Topic: Why Christians don’t pray consistently- Part 2
One way you can stay connected to the Father, is by consistent fellowship with Him
A lot of times, believers do not pray because they don’t believe God to answer.
The paradox in how we spend so much time on mundane things, yet, have a challenge with spending even a few time in prayer is indicative of our disbelief in prayer (to our God)
Another reason believers don’t pray is because they do not put God as their focus.
When you make God the centre focus of your prayer, everything you need will be added unto you.
When you do not make prayers your priority, you find it hard to pray.
Believers don’t pray because they have the wrong perception about prayer. They see prayer as a chore.
Think about your time of prayer as a time of power
Everytime you pray about a situation , you are releasing the power of God into that situation.
God is a God of order and order demands discipline
Grace is not a lazy gospel
Grace is not a call to irresponsibility, indiscipline or laziness.
Every great accomplishment demands discipline It takes discipline to beat that flesh down
The flesh is always lusting after the Spirit, but you have to discipline your body- 1Corinthians 9:27
Believers struggle to pray because of their personal struggles or sin but the gospel of grace says when you sin you must run to God, it says to come boldly!
Jesus did not come for the righteous but for the sinner.
Even when you sin, go to God boldly to obtain mercy..
Hebrews 4:16
If God is so important to you, merely praying in your car won’t be enough: create more time for Him!
Never allow your sin drive you away from the presence of God
Jesus prayed when He was distressed
-Mark 14:33-34
Prayer is not for only when things are going perfect, pray when you are discouraged -James 5:13
Cast your cares on Him in the place of prayer
-1 Peter 5:7
Believers do not pray because they do not rely on the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is not a thing but a person and we have Him in us.
Rely on the Holy Spirit and He will show you the way to go.
Nobody can teach you as much as the Holy Spirit can- John 24:26
The Holy Spirit can teach you communication and character.
Times when you cannot pray, are times you should speak to the Holy Spirit and rely on Him for help to Pray.
The Holy Spirit goes to the inner recess of your life and repair things you cannot reach when you rely on Him
When you employ the Holy Spirit in the place of prayer, He gives you a new desire for God’s word and prayer

Scripture: Luke 18 :1 – Second Rainbow Service sermon
Topic: Why Christians don’t pray consistently – Part 2
It is important to pray consistently. If you want to see a change, you need to pray about it consistently.
It is impossible to say you love God and not spend time with him.
God looks at your action more than what you say.
If you pray and believe, your actions will say so.
Every man who believes in God will call upon God when He is in trouble.
Let your fellowship be based on who God is and not what he will do for you
Prioritize prayer and fellowship with God.
Matthew 6:33
Let your fellowship be based on who God is and not what he will do for you
Prayer is your time and fellowship with God. Your time with God should be the major purpose why you pray.
Prayer shouldn’t be seen as a chore but as a delight.
Prayer is releasing the power and ability of God upon our lives.
1John 5:21, Keep away from anything that has taken the place of God in your heart.
Proverbs 23: 7, Your life will go in the direction of your predominant thought.
Prayer requires discipline.
In order to pray effectively and consistently you need to discipline your flesh.
God represents discipline.
Be committed to prayer even if you haven’t seen answers.
Sin does not allow you pray. However, if you sin, instead of running from God, run to Him. (Hebrews 4:16)
Discouragements and setbacks will come, but nothing should keep you away from God. Rather it should pull you closer to Him. (Mark 14:32-35)
Discouragements and setbacks will come, but nothing should keep you away from God. Rather it should pull you closer to Him. (Mark 14:32-35)
In difficult moments, PRAY. God is our hope and help in times of need.
(James 5: 13)
Romans 8: 26, Employ the help of the Holy Spirit when you pray.
Cultivate a formidable relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is our helper and strengthener.
Cultivate a formidable relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is our helper and strengthener.
Believers do not pray because they run out of words in the place of prayer. Trust the Holy Spirit in the place of prayer.
